How We Work

Sustain Discipleship exists to strengthen the local church in forming mature followers of Christ by removing practical barriers that hinder obedience, using development as a tool for discipleship.

Our Starting Point

Sustain Discipleship begins with the conviction that faithful obedience must be livable in daily life. Where survival, instability, or lack of access consumes time and attention, discipleship becomes strained even for willing hearts.

Our work exists to remove barriers that prevent obedience while ensuring that every effort remains rooted in Scripture, local leadership, and long-term faithfulness.

We do not begin with projects. We begin with spiritual order, formation through Scripture, and discipleship anchored in the local church.

How Decisions Are Made

Every effort undertaken through Sustain Discipleship is evaluated through the same framework:

  • Does this align with God’s design for order in life and family?
  • Does it support formation through Scripture and obedience?
  • Does it require stewardship that can be maintained locally?
  • Does it restore access without replacing responsibility?
  • Can it be sustained with endurance beyond a season?

If the answer to any of these is no, the work pauses or does not proceed.

This discipline protects both the people served and the people serving.

Scripture and Local Leadership

Sustain Discipleship does not operate independently of local leadership. Scripture is not applied externally; it is lived locally.

We work alongside pastors, elders, and leaders who are already discipling their communities. Projects do not replace discipleship. They exist to support it.

Teaching, accountability, and guidance through the Word of God accompany every effort.

What We Do Not Do

Clarity here matters.

We do not:

  • Pursue growth for visibility
  • Create dependency through provision
  • Separate material support from discipleship
  • Measure success by scale, speed, or recognition
  • Treat people as outcomes or stories

Faithfulness is the measure.

Why This Takes Time

Sustainable discipleship cannot be rushed. Alignment precedes growth.

Formation precedes leadership. Stewardship precedes expansion.

This work is intentionally patient because endurance matters more than momentum.

The goal is not activity, but multiplication; communities discipling themselves under faithful leadership.
